State of Ohio v. Ritch: Justice of the Peace Oliver Cowdery issued a warrant against Abram Ritch, upon oath of Joseph Smith, to constable B. H. Phelps for "unlawful oppression by color of office." Joseph Smith claimed that Ritch had criminally misused his office as constable.
