Nauvoo, Illinois
The first general elections of the newly chartered city of Nauvoo were held on this date. At a meeting organizing the city council, Joseph Smith gave the opening prayer, presented bills concerning the University of Nauvoo and the Nauvoo Legion, and was sworn in as a member of the city council.
