April 4, 1843

State of Illinois v. Jonathan Hoopes and Lewis Hoopes: Joseph Smith sat with several brethren in the municipal court on a writ of habeas corpus and discharged Jonathan and Lewis Hoopes.

May 12, 1843

Nauvoo City Ordinance: Prohibited any swine running at large within the city, imposing a fine of five dollars upon the owner of any swine that did so, and established that any unclaimed or unidentified swine be taken to the Marshal's office in order to determine the owner's identity.

May 15, 1843

Dana v. Brink: The defendant appealed the case to the Hancock Circuit Court by certiorari bond. After a series of continuances and a motion to arrest judgment, the plaintiff recovered of the defendant $75 plus costs in May 1844.
