Joseph Smith purchased the printing plant and Times and Seasons from Ebenezer Robinson for $6,600.00 using $3,790.00 of the Lawrence Estate funds and $2,810.00 of his own. He appointed John Taylor and Wilford Woodruff as co-Editors of the Times & Seasons and entered a five year lease with Taylor and Woodruff for the presses, etc., and the building which housed them.
