September 14, 1835

Under Joseph Smith's direction and in accordance with instructions in Doctrine and Covenants 25, the high council instructed Emma Smith, the Prophet's wife, to prepare a new selection of sacred hymns to be printed by William W. Phelps.

November 20, 1835

At home, Joseph Smith made rapid progress translating the Egyptian records, and he received a Hebrew Bible, Greek and Hebrew lexicons, and a Webster's dictionary from Oliver Cowdery, who had recently returned from New York.
